The Community Sailing Program has teamed up with the City of Winter Park, Florida to provide a sailing program that is focused on fun and safety. Join us for an exciting course covering all the basics of sailing. Upon completion, you will have the skill and knowledge to rig and sail a small boat on your own and will receive the Community Sailing Program Small Boat certification. Students must be at least 16 years old.  We offer a two-day course and a five-day course.

Two-day course

The two-day course is intended for those who are short on time and able to do some at home learning through reading and watching videos.  The course consists of two days on the water on consecutive Saturdays from 9am to 3pm on Lake Baldwin.  Students are required to read the Start Sailing Right! textbook and watch the learning materials before class. The textbook will be mailed after registration. The tuition is $145 plus $15 for the Start Sailing Right! textbook.

Five-day course

The five-day course is for those who prefer in person lectures to at home reading.  There will be two shore classes held on a weekday from 6pm to 8pm at the Winter Park Library and three water classes on Lake Baldwin from 9am to 1pm.  The tuition is $185 plus $15 for the Start Sailing Right! textbook.

  • All courses cover the same material
  • All courses are taught by our CSP trained instructors.
  • Please bring your own PFD, aka Life Jacket
  • All other equipment is provided.
  • Email Classes@thesailingclub.us with any questions.

Prerequisites

Sailing is a physical sport. Your training will include being seated on a one-foot high bench seat, moving from one side of the boat to the other, righting a capsized boat and climbing into the boats from the water. For your own safety, we require the following as a minimum for your ability to participate. You should be able to complete 5 standing squats, 2 knee push-ups, and swim 100 feet while wearing a PFD. If you have any orthopedic or other health problems, please contact us before registering.

Refund Policy

You may receive a full refund until the start of the first day of class. Once you’ve started the class we cannot offer a refund. We may be able to move you to a different class at no additional charge.
